For the past twelve Years the Mothers’ Union in Winchester Diocese has been providing home made Cakes for Families Day at RAF Odiham. Odiham Deanery has been co-ordinating this project which provides ‘free’ drinks and Cakes to over 3000 visitors on the Day.
Royal Air Force Odiham, home to the UK Chinook Force, operates three Chinook squadrons and one Army Air Corps (AAC) Lynx squadron. RAF Odiham personnel are engaged in operations and exercises throughout the world and held at readiness to deploy worldwide. The contribution of RAF Odiham’s personnel, both at home and abroad, provides critical support to the delivery of the UK military’s operational tasks.
The Families Day is organised each year by the Base to say Thank You, in some small way, to the families of all the personnel who work and support the work of RAF Odiham.
Mothers’ Union supporters from across the Diocese bake and deliver cakes to local collection centres which are then taken, on the day, to RAF Odiham where an MU Team serve cakes and drinks to the
personnel and their guests throughout the day.
Tea, Coffee, Squash and Cakes – Free with love from the Mothers’ Union.
The families are positively bowled over by the scrumptious cakes provided, and the support and love shown by Mothers’ Union members – a small way to say Thank You and show our appreciation for the work which is done by the RAF Personnel stationed at Odiham and their families.
